Weekend Warriors

When I realized Christmas was a mere two weeks away, I knew Chris and I had to get our butts in gear and accomplish a list of tasks we wanted done before the holidays. And so, we were definitely weekend warriors these past few days! We got the house to a spot that makes it feel good, even if not yet complete. It was necessary, both for our sanity and the number of friends and family who want to see the new place over the holidays!

We now have two rooms that are so close to being complete-for now anyway! May I present to you:

The Dining room! My husband is so handy-he was able to fix an electrical problem we were having that prevented our new pendant light from actually turning on. But look at that baby now:)

And the "cozy" room , as I like to call it because it's such a snugly, warm room, especially with a fire going! This room had been lacking window coverings because I just could not make a decision. At last I found these roman shades that pull in all the colors I wanted! Aren't they pretty?! There are a few unfinished details we need to get to, but it's definitely looking less and less like we just moved in:)

Sunday afternoon I made these aprons for my little siblings, in hopes they might inspire their little minds with culinary genius;) Little kitchen helpers are the best!

Hope your weekend was fabulous! Merry Monday!

Coming Right Along

Merry Monday! Phew, I am tired today, but we are coming along quite nicely at the house! Though I should throw it out there that my posts may be a little irregular the next two weeks as we continue getting ready for move-in and get settled into our house. Thankfully I took all of next week off, so moving should be a little less stressful.

And can I just say, thank you all so much for your kind words via comments, Facebook and in person! We are so very grateful for the wonderful people in our lives-especially our family! Seriously, this whole process would be a nightmare without their help and support! My father-in-law is here from the bay area for almost a week painting, helping install floors and the million other big projects we have for him. It definitely helps to have a licensed contractor and professional painter in the family:)

Just wanted to share some pics of the house while it's under construction. And please, pardon the dust~

Well This Was Unexpected

So I've got some news for you, friends! After much, much prayer and consideration of our best interest, Chris and I have decided NOT to buy a house. That's right, we are pulling our offers on both houses and staying put for a while.

I'm not gonna lie, this decision was a very difficult one for both of us, but sometimes the difficult choices are the most rewarding! I was heartbroken when we first decided this, seriously, I cried! But there were a few factors that brought us to this conclusion. The biggest being the job flexibility we have by avoiding a mortgage right now. Chris is desperately wanting a job in his field, but he may have to take a pay cut before he makes more and we want him to be able to do that and us still live comfortably, especially if it will give him satisfaction in what he does for a living. We also want to be able to accept a job that isn't local if the opportunity presents itself. I cannot express the relief we feel! Man, being a grown up is no easy task!

So now we've decided to totally revamp our apartment! We spent the entire weekend cleaning floor to ceiling, a few hours at Ikea getting our home organized and the next few weeks are dedicated to painting a few walls, adding some new touches, getting rid of old stuff on Craig's list and basically making the apartment a place that feels like home again. And not to mention we will be able to get our cars in good working condition and grow our savings in the process! I can't wait to share pictures of the place in a few weeks!

God often answers us in great and unexpected ways. The important thing to remember is to ALWAYS listen! I can't wait to see where He leads us!

A few months ago I said that home was wherever we make it and I have never believed that more!

Merry Monday!!
