A Balancing Act

If I'm being really honest, sometimes when I share about my "splurges", I get scared of being judged. Being someone who makes a living teaching people to live healthier lives, I fear you may think I don't practice what I preach. But believe me, it is of utmost importance that I am doing the very things I encourage others to do, which also means occasionally enjoying not-so-clean foods!

So I can't tell you how happy and relieved I was to read this today. Tosca Reno, the queen of clean eating, Oxgen's fabulous fifties colomnist and one of my biggest fitness inspirations, shares about taking a break from CE while in Paris for a few days! Seriously, she does that too?! Thank you Tosca, for being honest and such an incredible model of health and balance!

I Miss This

Two years ago, on a morning such as this, I would have woken up about 6am, worked out, made lunch for my husband, woken him up and spent a little quality time together before he headed to work. And then I would have leisurely enjoyed oatmeal and coffee before starting my day.

This morning has been that very way, and you know what? I miss it! It's funny because two years ago I was looking for work and didn't appreciate the time I had and now I am working two jobs and longing for more time like this. Crazy how your circumstance can make the same situation feel so different.

Don't get me wrong, I love what I do, and I wouldn't want to not be working, I'm simply trying to strike a healthy balance.

This morning I am preparing to teach my first yoga class tonight. I am so excited! I've been practicing and practicing the past few months in hopes of looking like I really know what I'm doing;)

I will say, compared to the first fitness classes I taught 2 years ago, I am now way more confident in my ability to teach well! And I am LOVING yoga more than ever!

And with my last swig of coffee, I'm off to perfect my Warrior 4...

Merry Monday!

ps~check out my pretty dahlias!

Ellie's Wisdom

"In my food world there is no fear or guilt, only joy and balance. So no ingredient is ever off limits."
Ellie Krieger

I love and completely share this motto! Too often, we go to extremes in an effort to lose weight or become healthier, but the realization that eating healthy doesn't mean totally depriving yourself creates a healthier realtionship with food!

Take a peek at Ellie's website and try a few of her delicious recipes!

All In Good Health

So, I've got a few things on my mind today. All related to health of course, but more what I'm thinking than anything else.

First of all, I just realized that after tomorrow, I will have 6 straight weeks of work until I have another day off. Oh Labor Day, I am impatiently waiting for you to arrive! So, I would like to propose something. I think that 4 day work weeks have the best balance. I mean really, that extra day off gives you so much time to accomplish what you need to and still get the rest needed to give it your all at work. So there it is, 4 days on and 3 days off:) Sounds like a good, healthy plan to me!

And the other thing, why is that when you seem to get on a great workout or eating routine, life sort of happens and throws a wrench in it? Seriously, so many people say this to me and I never want to admit it, but it happens to me too! For instance, I can be at the peak of a workout cycle and then suddenly get sick and be out of commission for a few days, or fail to plan my meals well and be starving at work when my coworker brings in doughnuts...ahh! You have to laugh about it and pick back up where you left off because friends, that's life for ya!

It's all about balance!

Happy Thursday!
