In The Words of Audrey...

One of my all-time favorite actresses, Audrey Hepburn, once said, "If I get married, I want to be very married."

Just a note to say that I really like being "very married" to this guy!

Bright Eyed Baristas and Holidays

My eyes are having some trouble cooperating this morning with the whole, it's time to be awake and alert thing! I have only myself to blame though. I just had to stay up and watch "Here Come the Newlyweds", and I'm paying for it now. Imagine the state I would be in without the help of my favorite Starbucks that's conveniently located in the middle of my morning commute! Thank you bright eyed baristas for giving me exactly what I needed in the form of a tall soy, no water chai:):):)

As I was sluggishly getting myself together this morning, it occured to me that this is a four day week for me! Whoo hoo!!! That's right, I get Friday off because of the 4th:) That oughta be enought to get me through this Tuesday!

It never fails that when I get a day off I unconsciously plan it with things I'd like to accomplish; a long workout, organizing, cleaning, getting caught up on reading I've wanted to do, a mani and pedi,(I even plan time to relax!)and before I know it my day off needs to be a week long to get it all in! I'm telling you, I should have been a teacher just for the summer vacation! I guess I will have to settle for a day, which I will say is much needed and appreciated:)

Have a happy Tuesday!

Well This Was Unexpected

So I've got some news for you, friends! After much, much prayer and consideration of our best interest, Chris and I have decided NOT to buy a house. That's right, we are pulling our offers on both houses and staying put for a while.

I'm not gonna lie, this decision was a very difficult one for both of us, but sometimes the difficult choices are the most rewarding! I was heartbroken when we first decided this, seriously, I cried! But there were a few factors that brought us to this conclusion. The biggest being the job flexibility we have by avoiding a mortgage right now. Chris is desperately wanting a job in his field, but he may have to take a pay cut before he makes more and we want him to be able to do that and us still live comfortably, especially if it will give him satisfaction in what he does for a living. We also want to be able to accept a job that isn't local if the opportunity presents itself. I cannot express the relief we feel! Man, being a grown up is no easy task!

So now we've decided to totally revamp our apartment! We spent the entire weekend cleaning floor to ceiling, a few hours at Ikea getting our home organized and the next few weeks are dedicated to painting a few walls, adding some new touches, getting rid of old stuff on Craig's list and basically making the apartment a place that feels like home again. And not to mention we will be able to get our cars in good working condition and grow our savings in the process! I can't wait to share pictures of the place in a few weeks!

God often answers us in great and unexpected ways. The important thing to remember is to ALWAYS listen! I can't wait to see where He leads us!

A few months ago I said that home was wherever we make it and I have never believed that more!

Merry Monday!!

Friday Favorites!

Happy Friday! Here are a few of my favorite things from this week!

*Kendall table cloth -

You all know how much I adore Crate and Barrel! On Monday afternoon I went and spent a gift card Chris and I received for our anniversary! I have been eyeing this for a few months and am so pleased I decided to get it! I'm not usually one for tableclothes, I usually go for placemats or runners, but this is a nice change and it really brings out the tuscan colors in my kitchen while cheering up the room with it's sunny brightness:)

*Saving money! -

Who doesn't like saving money, right? This week I went to the oral surgeon I was reffered to by my dentist. It went great, dentist was nice, office was nice, easy enough...until they showed me my estimated portion after my insurance. A hefty $1000! I didn't think much of it because I knew getting my wisdom teeth pulled would be expensive. The next day at lunch Chris and I were looking over the bill and he suggested that they may not be a prefered provider for our insurance company. Honestly, I kind of wrote it off thinking the dentist wouldn't refer us to a non-prefered provider, knowing what insurance we have. Sure enough, after calling them I found out Chris was right. After some resistance, my dentist gave me the number of a prefered provider. I called to get an estimate, assuming it may be a few hundred dollars difference and in that case would be worth the switch of surgeouns. Yeah, I found out it will cost us $230 with the other place!! I immediately scheduled my appointment for next month. Can you believe what a difference that makes? The craziest thing is, I didn't even know to ask, assuming everyone is going to do what is best for everyone else. Obviously I was wrong and I am so grateful for Chris and how when it comes to money, he doesn't just take someone's word for things. He actually looks and researches to find the best deals. What a blessing!

*Transformers 2 -

Okay, so not typically my kind of movie, but we watched the first one and thought it was pretty good, so why not see the second? Oh my goodness, it was awesome! Seriously!! Just make sure not to bring kiddos that are too young, there is some language and non-child appropriate content.

*Thanks you cards! -

I'm a sucker for cute stationary and I believe it is fully worth every penny! I found these at a cute store in San Francisco last weekend. The design is by Andy Warhol and is so very cute and summery!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

All In Good Health

Happy Thursday friends!

I am super excited about today's AIGH post! It is a special find I discovered about 2 years ago and I've been hooked ever since. For those of you who are new readers to the blog (welcome!), you should know that I am a complete magazine junkie! Seriously, it's like an addiction for me to find (and buy) several magazines a month...in addition to the five I already subscribe to:)They are mostly related to health, fitness, cooking and decorating, but this my friends is a true gem! The magazine is Clean Eating and it is a spin off of Oxygen magazine and their philosophy of eating clean. Basically, eating minimally processed, whole, nutrutious foods. As one of the colomnist frequently says, "Shop around the perimiter of the grocery store". They come out with a new issue every two months and I am always expectantly awaiting it's arrival!

As you know, I love recipes and frequently interchange where I get them, Whole Foods, Cooking Light, Epicurious and of course, Clean Eating. Well this week I decided to plan my menu around CE and, as always, they have all been fantastic!

I should tell you that of all the recipes I use (and I promise they are plenty!), I have had the most success with CE in regards to Chris loving them. There has only been one recipe that comes to mind that he actually hasn't liked. And really, I should have known better on that one...rookie mistake:) I think the biggest reason he is so fond of them is their simplicity. I mean really, when you are using fresh, whole ingredients, how can you go wrong?

The dinner I made on Tuesday night was particularly good and I feel I am obligated to share it with you! It is a spin on the philly cheese steak, but with chicken. I would not lead you astray, this is definitely a keeper!! Unfortunately, I couldn't find a picture anywhere for you to see just how scrumptious they look. You can however, check out the magazine! In the current July/August issue (pictured above), you can find the recipe on page 35. And tonight I'm going to venture to page 38 and satisfy our appetites with balsamic-marinated pork chops and grilled peaches!! I can't wait!

One Down, Many to Go!!

Wow! I'm laughing at myself right now because it feels like I haven't posted in FOREVER, when really it has only been 5 days!

I planned on posting about our anniversary on Monday, but that was before I spent the last 2 1/2 days with a crazy headache! Boo! Anyway, I am feeling much better today and am ready to share:)

First of all, I would like to say that the weekend could not have been more fantastic...unless we had thought ahead and actually taken Monday off of work. What were we thinking? On Sunday we kept asking ourselves this very question. I guess we almost thought of everything:)

Anyway, we made it a two part trip doing the things we each love! Our trip began on Saturday morning in San Francisco. We both love the city and often make day trips there. The thing is, because we live here and don't think of ourselves as tourists, we usually don't get to do the "touristy" things. After telling Chris my desire to do some things we don't normally do, we decided to begin at Pier 39, where we began at Boudin's for some clam chowder. I mean how can you go to San Francisco and not have clam chowder? We spent most of the afternoon walking around Market street, Ghirardelli Square and of course shopping a little:)

We then went to check into our hotel, Abri. Can I just say how much I loved this place?! I only wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy it! Talk about a swanky place to stay:) I would definitely go back.

After happy hour at the hotel's Italian restaurant and bar, we headed to the Giant's game! Chris had really been looking forward to this! Of course we had to get to the ballpark 2 hours early to get the free knit cap they were giving away and to watch batting practice:) My friends, we don't just go for the game, we go for the whole production! We had a blast together and thankfully the Giant's pulled out the win after 11 innings!! Chris was so proud of me for being so into the game:)

But the fun didn't end there! At 3am the next morning I was up getting ready for our hot air balloon ride in Napa. Thankfully it is only an hour drive, but the meeting time was changed to 5:30 from 6:30, which we found out the day before! It was totally worth it though! It happened to be an incredibly clear and beautiful morning! Our amazing balloon ride was followed with a delicious champagne breakfast with our group, where the pilots served us:)

Being only 9am when we were finished with everything, we decided to make a day of being in Napa. After all, it is one of my all time favorite places! So we made a neccesary stop at Bouchon bakery. Remember my birthday? It is simply too scrumptious to pass up! While we enjoyed our coffee and treat, we saw there was an old car show being held across the street. So we went and looked at old cars!

At this point we were starting to feel the lack of sleep hit us. We already knew we wanted to go to Chandon for some champagne but it wasn't open yet, so we parked in a shady spot and took a little nap:)

Because we are members of the club at Chandon, we get a free glass of champagne whenever we go there. So we got our favorites and sat outside to enjoy the amazing weather and each other's company! We reminisced about the last year and the many laughs, hardships and wonderful memories we have shared! We actually sat there and talked so long, the server brought us another glass:)

Chris also took me to Mumm's for a wine tasting since I had never been there. They do a lot of their tastings on the patio where you can enjoy the amazing scenery!

I must say how incredibly lucky I feel to be married to such a loving, handsome and caring man! I love spending time with him and couldn't ask for more enjoyable company!! This last year has been the best yet and I cannot wait to see what is in store for us the next 70 or so;)

Leaving for San Francisco!

This Too Shall Pass

It's funny to me that the theme of Summerfest this year was perseverance.

This afternoon, some major problems were discovered with my car. Apparently, it needs over $2000 worth of work. Wince with me, would you. My car is hardly worth putting that much money into. What do we do now? We don't know yet. So now we are the proud owners of two cars in pretty shabby condition.

To top it off, the IT people spent the entire day at my desk due to several issues I was having, all to find out the my hard drive is likely failing. Not good news. I hardly got anything done today and I hate that feeling.

I am completely exhausted.

However, I take comfort in knowing a few things:

1. God is in control and will take care of us...completely.

2. Even though material things may fail, I am incredibly blessed to have a loving and devoted husband to come home to and know that we are in this together.

3. These situations are building character.

4. As my Mom reminded me this afternoon, this too shall pass.

You should know that I still have a smile on my face and can't wait to celebrate the great victories as well as the trials we have faced the last year of being married. I wouldn't change it for the world!

I'm thinkin' that getting treated to a pedi should ease some stress =)

Hives, Fire and Utter Chaos

Man am I glad it is Friday!

I didn't have the best day yesterday and I am incredibly happy to be starting a new one, despite being really tired!

Here's how it all went down: On Wednesday, after Summerfest, I noticed some strange red spots on my stomach. Didn't think too much about it because they didn't itch or hurt and they didn't look suspicious. Decided I'd see what they looked like in the morning and if anything changed I would go from there. And the next day I forgot about them.

That was until about 1:30 Thursday afternoon when I noticed more on my chest and my arms. And by now they were starting to itch. My main concern was that I have never had chicken pox, only the shot and that I would be around kids at Summerfest. I called my doctor, who scheduled me an appointment just to make sure it wasn't some sort of bad allergic reaction. A little bummed I had to cancel my dentist appointment, but nothing too inconvenient. So I get to the doctor exactly at my appointment time only to find out I was at the wrong office! What made me mad was that I clarified with the nurse on the phone and she still told me the wrong place. Anyway, knowing I would miss the appt. time, I called to cancel and just took some Benadryl as instructed. Once we got home I immediately fell asleep and made the decision to skip Summerfest in case I was contagious. Plus, I had a bad headache. Crisis averted, right? Wrong!

About two hours later I was abruptly woken up by Abby barking like crazy, loud noises outside my window and someone ringing the doorbell. I reluctantly stumbled out of bed to see who it was and heard some random lady say, "The fire department is at your car!". What?? I ran out there to see what the problem was and found out my car has a gas leak and had started a small fire on the pavement. (I'm guessing from the heat, but don't really know how that happened) So I had to immediately call and have my car towed to a repair shop, but I didn't know where Chris takes our cars! It figures I couldn't get a hold of ANYONE!! I was starting to get really stressed out. Thankfully, the USAA rep on the phone was so nice and patient with me as I was trying to collect all the neccesary information. After an hour of humiliation (did I mention there were about 10 neighbors standing around being nosy and giving me wierd looks?) I finally got my car safetly towed away.

I kept thinking, what would have happened if I wasn't home? It would have been towed to an impound place where we would have had to pay a pretty penny to get it out! The weird thing is, my hives are almost gone and there is still no explanation for them. Talk about everything happening for a reason!

I also found out that we have a really sweet couple of neighbors. After it was all said and done, a girl we've seen around, and who adores Abby, came to say she didn't mind helping us out if we needed anything and even offered to drive me in to work at 6am! How sweet is that? My Mom had already planned on coming to work early, but I still really appreciate the offer!

I don't know what I would do without Chris, who is taking care of my car this morning and helped calm me down. And thankfully, the fireman said the problem was minor and pretty inexpensive to get fixed. Praise the Lord for that!

Hopefully our anniversary weekend will go off without a hitch. It all starts tonight with Chris making me a surprise dinner! I can't wait:)

I love this picture because it's our wedding and it started to rain, yet our faces still say, "Nothing's gonna rain on our parade!". This is totally how I feel. No amount of car trouble is going to bring us down this weekend:)

I am so looking forward to getting off work today because my Mom and I are going for pedi's this afternoon:) Yay!

Hope your weekend is lovely and free of car troubles and strange rashes! =)

Sweet and Unique

The best finds always come from stalking my favorite blogs! Amanda of Swish and Swanky posted the most adorable piece of art from Studio Mela. How sweet are these prints?!

I want them all! I may need to make some wall space...

Happy Thursday!

Delicious Find

If you've ever seen my house you would know that I am all about the color green! And if you've been over, I probably had some sweet treat whipped up just for you:)

Now, imagine my excitement when the Williams Sonoma catalogue came and delighted me with these yummy looking Royale Cake Stands?!

How great would dessert look on these? Absolutely perfect!

Then

The date today: June 17, 2009

Let me take you back to a very special day in time: June 17, 2003

To set the scene: A girl, 17, and a guy, 18, have been flirting very heavily for about two weeks. The girl's friends are asking when the guy and girl are going to have the DTR (define the relationship), since it is obvious they are smitten:) The guy's mom and the girl's best friend have been meddling...It is the second day of Summerfest and the girl is a co-leader with her friend. The guy has spent every possible moment at the girls side that he can and, GASP, during the worship service the guy lightly plays with, and eventually holds, the girls hand:) After Summerfest ends that night, the guy and the girl go to Jamba Juice (this has become a very regular thing for them to do). Afterwards they return to the church to watch a movie with the other high school volunteers, but decide to stay on the grassy hill outside after everybody else leaves;) After about 10 minutes of chit chat and hand holding the guy says to the girl, "Will you be my girlfriend?"!! And the rest is history:)

Oh, in case you didn't catch it, Me and Chris are the girl and the guy:)

Okay, so I know I'm a goof! I'm not sure why this year has been so sentimental for me. Maybe it's because we're back in the place it all started, maybe it's that we're finally married, or maybe it's just because with every year that goes by, I realize how very lucky I am to have spent another year with the most incredible, loving man I have ever known! And despite our own weaknesses, God has continued to be faithful to us and grow our love for one another. With each year that passes, it just gets better and better.

On my way in to work this morning I heard this song by Brad Paisley and I couldn't believe how fitting it was:)

Then
I remember, trying not to stare the night that I first met you
You had me mezmorized
And three weeks later, in the front porch light
taking forty-five minutes to kiss goodnight
I hadn't told you yet
but I thought I loved you then

And now you're my whole life
now you're my whole world
I just can't believe the way I feel about you, girl
Like a river meets the sea,
stronger than it's ever been.
We've come so far since that day
And I thought I loved you then

And I remember, taking you back to right where I first met you,
You were so surprised
There were people around, but I didn't care
Got down on one knee right there once again,
I thought I loved you then

And now you're my whole life
now you're my whole world
I just can't believe the way I feel about you, girl
Like a river meets the sea,
stronger than it's ever been.
We've come so far since that day
And I thought I loved you then

I could just see you, with a baby on the way
And I could just see you, when your hair is turning gray
What I can't see is how I'm ever gonna love you more
But I've said that before

And now you're my whole life
now you're my whole world
I just can't believe the way I feel about you, girl
We'll look back someday, at this moment that we're in
And I'll look at you and say
And I thought I loved you then
And I thought I loved you then

Happy six years, Babe. Here's to another 66!

Sadly, I don't have a picture on the computer of us all that time ago, but I'll leave you with my favorite engagement picture. Just pretend:)

A Good Distraction:)

Do you ever feel like you have a never ending list of to-do's? I am so there today! As I was getting ready this morning, I seriously had a brain explosion of tasks screaming for my attention. Reschedule the dentist appt, make a spa appt, stop by the post office, pick up wine shipment, wedding RSVP's, car registration is due, pay parking ticket, go to the store at lunch, sign up for sushi making class...Ahh! Not to mention that Summerfest starts tonight!

I'm trying to just breath.

Don't worry though, I've been able to find a good distraction ~ our anniversary is in 5 days!!!

On this day last year we were headed to Hawaii and getting our marriage license:)

About to get on our plane:)

Right after we got the marriage license:)

All In Good Health

Okay, so I know I've been doing these posts on Thursdays, but I just couldn't keep these cool new finds to myself! The items I'm posting today were actually found in the July 2009 issue of Oxygen Magazine. Yet another great thing from this awesome magazine!! Thank you Oxygen:)

The theme of these products is portion control. I'm a total geek for cool new gadgets, so these really stood out to me. For a lot of people, it isn't neccessarily the foods we are eating that prevents weight loss, it is the amount of food we eat. America is stuck on "super-sizing" everything! We need to re-learn the appropriate amount of foods we should be consuming and these products can help us acheive just that!

* The SmartSpace Dispenser by Zevro. Talk about a nifty way to measure your cereal or oatmeal in the morning. And why stop there? You could use this for snacks, granola and even different grains:)One twist of the handle dispenses exactly one ounce. Love it!

* PortionPal five-piece disc set. These discs are designed to show you a serving size of beef, chicken, fish, pasta and even dessert! A great perk to these are how easily they can be stored:) These would also be a fun way to help kids learn portions:)

Wishing you good health always!!

Giving In

How many households these days do NOT have some sort of DVR capabilities? I mean seriously, it has become as common as having a dishwasher! I find it interesting how quickly we become attached to conveniences such as DVR. I mean really, Chris and I didn't even have tv for the first 6 months we were married and now it's like we have a heart attack if something doesn't record. Okay, so it's not quite that extreme for us, but I've seen people be that obsessed!

While I have always prided myself on being the rebel with these sorts of things, I must admit that even I have come to love having all of my favorite Food Network shows saved for me when I actually have the time to watch them! For instance, yesterday afternoon I spent a good 2 hours skimming through episodes of Ask Aida (love her, btw!) and Giada at Home! It's quite nice to have those available to me since I'm never home when they're actually on!(and not to mention skipping the commercials!) That's right, no longer can I claim to be the rebel of modern day tv watching:)

On a side note, starting tomorrow, we will be helping with Summerfest. Summerfest is a vacation bible school put on by the church we grew up in every summmer. It's quite a crazy and fun 3 days! This year, Chris and I volunteered as co-leaders for a group of second graders:) I can't wait to co-lead with my husband!! It should be fun:) Summerfest is actually where Chris and I started dating 6 years age. More on that story later:)

Countdown...6 days until our first anniversary!

On this day last year Chris and I, along with our parents, were in San Fransisco getting ready to leave for Hawaii...to get married!

Six days before we became Mr. and Mrs.!

Merry Monday!

PS~I am wearing my cutie headband today:)

Does the Weekend Have to End?

Well, it's Sunday night and once again I am feeling the weekend slipping away too quickly!

Friday night, we decided on Up for our date night entertainment. Seriously, it was so stinkin' cute! What is it about Pixar movies that appeal to both young and old alike? Whatever it is, they should keep it up. This is a must see!

All ready for date night!

And as predicted, I opened my eyes to the clock saying 6:09 on Saturday morning! Some people find it annoying to wake up early on the weekends, but I absolutely love it!! I feel like I have the whole day to savor:) I even stopped at our favorite little doughnut shop, Jasmine's, for a splurge of a breakfast. Man did we enjoy it! And because we had absolutely nothing planned, we got dressed and went garage sale-ing (surprising, I know!). We also stopped by the Tattered House, only to find the dresser I found last week was sold! Talk about depressing!! So we drove to Oldtown Folsom, where antique shops are abundant. I don't think I have been there in years. We had such an awesome afternoon walking around the shops and enjoying the great California weather. We also discovered the best gelato I have EVER had!! You should really trust me on this one. I traveled through Europe tasting numerous kinds of gelato and am here to say, this was better, well, at least as good:)

Yay for garage sales and great Saturday mornings together!

This afternoon I called my Mom to see if she wanted to go shopping with me. I needed to stop by Aveda for some essentials and wanted to make a stop at Anthropologie. I know I really shouldn't go there when I don't have a lot of extra money, but our anniversary is next weekend and I wanted a few new tops...and they are having a big sale. I finally made a decision on the few pieces I would buy, even though I wanted the whole store:) As my Mom was dropping me off at home she hands me a bag...? It turns out she's a real sneakster and bought me the headband I was drooling over AND a cute metal "H" (I am obsessed with H's right now). Seriously, how great are Moms?!

How adorable is this? I can't wait to wear it!

And because it was just too darn good not to post, here is the fabulous dinner we enjoyed tonight...

Fresh Mozzarella, Italian Sausage and Roasted Red Pepper Naan Bread Pizzas

I've been dying to make these for weeks now. Talk about a hit! And paired with Chimney Rock's Elevage Blanc, it was the perfect sweet ending to a perfectly relaxing weekend!

The countdown has begun...7 days till our 1 year anniversary!!!

Is This Really My 100th Post?!

Happy Friday!

I am unbelievably excited about sleeping in tomorrow!(you know until around 6:30)Don't get me wrong, this week was wonderful, but I will definitely enjoy not needing to set an alarm:)

I don't even think we have any big plans for the weekend, which is the first in a while! We will need the rest for our upcoming festivities! Our one year anniversary is next Sunday and we are planning an awesome weekend!!! I still can't believe it has already been a year. Woot!

And on a side note, I just realized that we share our anniversary with Father's Day this year. Totally a bummer considering we won't be in town to be with our Dad's:( The first day of summer also lands on Sunday. June 21st is a big one this year!

For date night tonight we are going to the movies! It's been a while since we've gone, but we have free tickets! We haven't quite come to a decision on what we're going to see. Any recommendations?

Ooh, I made the Pasta Primavera I talked about last week and it was so yummy!! Seriously, a MUST try! I made some of my own variations that I think made the flavors a bit more rich. I also made the grilled fruit with the caramelized orange sauce for dessert. It was fantastic! But then again, how can you go wrong?

For the pasta:
*I used whole wheat fettuccine
*I omitted the peas because, well, I don't like peas
*Instead of just tossing the tomatoes onto the pasta, I roasted them for a deeper flavor
*I added grilled chicken to make it a complete meal (and because I fed my hubby all vegetarian last week and he was craving the meat:)

Have a great weekend!

Obsessed Much??

This is what my desk looks like this morning:) I've got my water, my tea from this morning and Chris brought me a skinny latte on his way to work. I think it's love!

All in Good Health

So it's almost summer and the good "exotic" produce is probably showing up more and more in your local grocery store. Have you ever passed over the pineapple section and maybe even the table holding the ripe, delicious mango because you thought to yourself, " While that would be delicious, it's just too much of a hassle to prepare". Or maybe you just plain don't know how to cut them properly. Trust me, you are not alone! I think that Americans, in general, miss out on the abundance of nutrients in many foods because of a) the inconvenience or b) the unfamiliarity.

I'm going to let you in on a little secret that will practically solve the problem of exhibit a. Aren't you excited?!?

Pineapple slicer ~ I'm sure you've seen these in Crate and Barrel and though to yourself, "How in the world does that little thing slice a pineapple?". I'm here to tell you that it makes the task SO incredibly simple! I should tell you that my childhood was spent living in Hawaii and I have had my fair share of pineapple in my life, but I have never enjoyed it as much as I do now that it literally takes me 30 seconds to cut. It comes out in the perfect round slices and you have the entire shell of the fruit left to use as cute presentation for salsas and dips! How great is that?

Mango pitter ~ This little tool is also a big time saver. It allows you to remove the seed while taking none of the precious fleshy fruit with it!

You may think these things look silly, but trust me, I am much more likely to include these yummy tropical fruits into our diet with these time saving gadgets. My husband definitely appreciates having more of these savory treats in his lunch during the summer months!

Next time you're at the farmer's market or at the grocery store, try to pick up at least one thing you've never tried before. Google a recipe with that ingredient and try something new! It is so important to vary your diet with an array of fruits and vegetables! Also try to focus on what's in season (it always tastes better!).

Check out this link to find out what's in season in your region.

Morning Glory

I'm not joking when I say I have decorating on my mind ALL THE TIME lately! Specifically, I have been dreaming of how my soon-to-be guestroom will look. I don't really know why, but I have always wanted a beautiful guestroom:) I love staying at someone's home and feeling like there is a special place just for me. That's how I want friends and family to feel when they visit us! So, after many hours of looking for bedding that could possibly make the cut, I have found the Morning Glory collection from Anthropologie. It is a bit pricey, so I at least have the idea for the room, but I will have to see what kind of budget my darling husband will compromise on:) I want the room to feel fun and bright, but welcoming at the same time.

What do you think?

I can't wait to move!

Girl With a Plan

As I was flipping through my Oxygen magazine a few days ago I read this, "Failing to prepare is preparing to fail".

What a simple truth! I think it can be applied in so many areas of life. Whether it be an fitness routine, a budget, losing weight, staying organized etc. It's funny because I've been thinking a lot lately about being prepared and staying on top of things, especially when life get really busy. Without a plan I find that I get a bit lax and before I know it, my house is a mess, I'm lost at the gym and we end up having omelettes for dinner:/ Preparation is so simple if we would just take a few minutes away from the busyness and write down how we're going to accomplish everything. As a self-proclaimed "list girl" I love finding new ways to be organized. Here are some of my favorite finds.

For Food ~ I usually buy these adorable pads at Anthropologie, but I have seen them at other stores as well. The yellow pad is for your weekly menu and the red pad is for your grocery list (so you don't uneccerarily linger over the cookie isle!). I love these things!

For Budget ~ Chris and I use Mint.com for our monthly budget. There are many websites out there that do very similar things, but we happen to like the user-friendliness of Mint.

For Organization ~ It's true, I am not a child of technology and I would rather tote my cute planner around then make notes and appointments in an iphone:) The point is, writing things down is such a better way to keep track of a busy schedule than trying to remember every dentist appt, birthday party and game night you have planned! Did I mention how cute planners can be? This one is by Franklin Covey.

Now it's your turn. Got any great ideas for staying organized?
