The First Casualty

Casualty of moving, that is. I was very sad this weekend when I realized I must have either misplaced or lost my loaf pans during our move in November. And since all the boxes have been unpacked for ages and it seemed very unlikely that I could have misplaced them, my conclusion was that they must have been left at the apartment-you know, in that awful drawer under the stove where you store bakeware?

I was terribly disappointed as I had set my mind on baking our favorite banana bread this weekend. And then it occurred to me to try The Perfect Brownie pan I just received for Christmas! After all, it does claim to be useful for more than just brownies {remember this post?}.

And my oh my, it certainly did the trick! My banana bread came out perfectly portioned and didn't stick at all! It also turned out super moist since the cook time was reduced by almost a third. I was so excited about the results that I almost completely forgot about losing my trusty loaf pans.

So excited in fact, I even I took some pictures to show you how awesome the Perfect Brownie pan really is:

Here they are, my perfectly portioned little banana bread bites:)

Once they are cooled you just pop the included stand underneath the pan and the bottom lifts from the pan like so. Now they are perfect for serving!

Ooo, ahh:

And then, lo and behold, as I opened my cupboard to get a container to store my bread, I discovered this:

That's right, my loaf pans! Ha, I laughed for a good minute after seeing this. Especially since I open this particular cupboard every single day and could not remember they were being stored there! I guess sometimes it's hard to see something that's staring you right in the face. At least I got to use my brownie pan and am now hooked on trying it with other baked goods!

Date Night

We've all seen The Office, right? Completely ridiculous, but all together hilarious! So when I saw Steve Carell and Tina Fey (the ever famous Sarah Palin mocker) paired in Date Night, my first impression was, "Decent comic relief, but not really interested." And so, I made no attempt to rush off to the theatres or even grab it at RedBox for that matter. But my opinion has changed since catching the flick this past weekend with my in-laws.

I must say, for two very goofy, comedic actors, they did an exceptional job with this movie. And I should add, it was not at all what I expected. It's a tale of a boring New Jersey couple stuck in the routine of life. But after discovering their friends are getting a divorce, not because of marital woes, but rather because they are nothing more than "great roomates" the couple decides to spice things up with a spontaneous date night in the city. But a mistaken case of identity leads them on a crazy chase throughout New York city. All the while they realize how much they appreciate their not so exciting life and in the end Carell says to his wife, "I would do it all again (meaning their life). I would choose you everytime." Super sweet ending!

Overall, a good amount of funny without being overdone.

A Sweet Gift and a Funny

You may remember me swooning over this pillow a few weeks ago. Well, my sweet aunt made a special delivery this weekend with none other than a Pottery Barn bag carrying the pillow! It was a thank you for helping her get back on track with diet and exercise. How sweet and appreciative is that?! Needless to say, I was totally suprised!

And I just had to share this ridiculous picture of our pup who, as you can see, thinks she is one of us! About fifteen minutes after waking up yesterday I walked into our bedroom to see this! How she got herself nestled under the covers like that is still a mystery to me!

Happy Tuesday!

Unfamiliar Territory

Merry Monday friends! I hope your weekend was wonderful, relaxing and full of fun!

We had a delightful few days off! Here's a funny story for you~

After finishing our dinner last night, Chris promptly asked, "What are we having for dessert, honey?". Quite comical that he has become accustomed to this, but I of course already had something in mind:) I responded that I was going to make our favorite Peanut Butter and Jam Cookies! And with that my husband began clearing our plates from the table and once everything was put away he asked what the first step was for the cookies! What?? That's right, instead of him checking football scores while I baked, we made them together! There were some very amusing moments though.

First of all, Chris read me the list of ingredients we needed because, as he noted, he doesn't know where anything is in our 'immaculate pantry'...wouldn't that make it easier to find things?? Anyway, he then combined all the wet ingredients in the mixing bowl and as they were blending he asks me if I had decided to move the mixer down from the pantry because I knew I would be doing a lot of baking during the holidays...I stared at him blankly for a moment and then, realizing what he had just asked me, I started laughing out loud. Understand that our mixer has been in the EXACT same spot on the counter since we moved in (18 months ago!). It became clear in that moment that our kitchen is pretty unfamiliar territory for him:)

I must say though, he did a fantastic job with the cookies! Impressive actually!!

So focused:)

"Cleaning up"

Yummy!!

The last hours of our weekend were spent enjoying these amazing cookies, milk and watching one of our favorite holiday movies, Elf!

Laugh Yourself Skinny

It's been proven that a good belly laugh burns calories, so I wanted to give you an opportunity to do just that:)

My father-in-law grew up in Texas and frequently jokes about being a redneck. I recently got an email from him that seriously had me laughing out loud. It was a sequence of pictures from the website thereifixedit.com. Here are a few...

If This Doesn't Make You Laugh...

Hahaha...this had me laughing for about ten minutes last night! She got a little too close to the camera.

Thought you could use a bit o' cheer on this Friday Eve!

Funny Friday

As we were pulling into my parking lot this morning, I saw a delivery truck. It was a truck that delivers packaged romaine hearts. The side of the truck said this:

"Lettuce Romaine in your Hearts" ~ I'm sorry but I think that is hilarious!

Don't mind my soft humor, I needed something to perk me up this morning. Chris and I stayed up way too late last night watching The Office and Hell's Kitchen. So I woke up late this morning, which means I had to leave my hair curly. It's one thing when I choose to leave it that way, but this morning there was no choice involved! And I am so tired!! Needless to say, the truck made me laugh:)

Anyway, I hope you're having a Fabulous Friday!!

I'll leave you with this:

Michael Scott: You do respect dibs, don't you?
Dwight: I'm not a barbarian...

Haha! That's from last week, but I am still laughing about it:)
