For A Brief Moment

Amongst the hustle and bustle of life, I take sincere comfort in lovely weekends. The kind that allow you to soak up the small joys in life and rest for a brief moment. If only until the next week's end, I'm left feeling filled up and recharged (and positively blissful thanks to another wonderful prenatal massage!).  I hope you too, had a weekend that left you loving life! Happy Monday!

Rest for the Weary

Happy Friday, friends! This has been an exhausting week to say the least, making the next few days a much anticipated respite! But despite the fatigue that has taken me over, it feels as if God has poured sunshine into my soul and I am somehow rejuvenated! Honestly, the Beth Moore bible study I am currently doing is rocking my world! I've grown to look forward to Thursday nights with my bible study ladies. How sweet it is to be surrounded by such wise and encouraging woman of God!

And on that note, it is also amazing that my husband finished ALL of our laundry this week. Yep, he's Mr. Wonderful! Because believe me, it was a lot.

This weekend I hope to visit our local nursery and make some headway on our vegetable garden and maybe even whip up a homemade pizza. That always seems to do the trick.

Have a great weekend!

R&R Weekend

What are you up to this weekend? Darling husband and I are doing a little shopping at Ikea tonight in hopes of finding some big frames to spruce up an area of the apartment that desperately needs some love.

And seeing as the next several weeks will be wonderfully busy, I'm counting on some good R&R this weekend. Hmm, maybe even a nice bath and a good book...

Have a lovely weekend!

Favorites of the Week

Friday is finally here and I am happy as can be! The fact that it is Friday may just be my favotite thing about this week:) But, here are some others:

* I have found a guilty pleasure that I am a bit hesitant to share. It's one of those things I never ever thought I would do, but alas, I have become a fan of a certain reality tv show...

While flipping through some channels last week, I came across Tori and Dean Home Sweet Hollywood and watched a bit of an episode, only to realize it is kinda cute. So I set it to record and have now seen most of this past season. Wow, I'm shameless:)

* Power naps. Chris had a short lunch yesterday, so after I dropped him off I still had abut 25 minutes left of mine. What did I do with my time? I parked in a shaddy spot at my office, put the windows down a bit, layed my seat back and took a little nap! Talk about refreshing!! It doesn't hurt that the weather this week has been unusually tame. Yesterday's high was 78, which was a nice change of pace:)

* Remember the almond croissants I told you about? Naturally, Lael took some photos of the delicious treats and I've been wanting to see the pictures. I knew my friend was talented! Here's a link to her flickr page, see for yourself:) The croissant pics are on the bottom of the first page. Notice the cute, green picnic table we're sitting at!

* And finally, this particular favorite hasn't happened yet, but we are going to see Julie and Julia tonight. I guess I'm counting on it being a winner:) Let's be real though, I just love going to the movies since it has become a rare treat!

Have a great weekend!

Whoa Momma!

Today may have been the busiest day I've had at work! I think it became very clear to all of us that peak may be here a few weeks earlier than expected! It actually is a very good thing as my day flew by at lightning speed:)

Thankfully I will have a few days to recover from it before I plunge into our busiest season of the year, as I am off this Friday and Monday, as well as next Friday! My reason for this four-day weekend is Rebecca's visit and next weekend I am getting my wisdom teeth removed. But rest assured, I probably won't be having another day off until at least September or October! Hey, I'll be logging some good overtime:)

I am SO looking forward to the next several days of rest, getting my hair done, a pedicure, fun with Rebecca, HARRY POTTER!, margaritas and laying by the pool!! Thank you long weekends:)

Oh, I almost forgot, I came home to a very pleasant surprise today; my Studio Mela picture came in the mail! I've been anxiously checking the mail box every day the past 9 days and it finally arrived!

I absolutely love this picture! In case you can't read it, the cloud above the house says, "Where happy lives". Check out her stuff on Etsy!

Hope your day was wonderful!

Rain, Rain Go Away!

I am convinced that weird weather makes for weird days!

Here in Sacramento, we have definitely not had a shortage of sunshine; appropriate for the time of year and much appreciated!! It has made it much easier to go for my runs in the evenings after work. And not to mention just being more active throughout the day. Who wouldn't want to be outside when it is a perfect 71 degrees?!

I'm not really sure what happened, but this afternoon I was working away and I realized it was raining!! Excuse me?? Where did my sunshine go? And especially right before my birthday! The weather report says it should clear up by Friday, but that's still cutting it a bit close for my comfort!

Don't get me wrong, I love big rains, just not in April. This is pretty much how I feel today:(

So what have been the effects of this strange turn of the weather you ask? Well for me, I am finding it hard to get motivated to work out tonight. Bah! I have been doing so well and pushed through being really tired at the end of last week and now this? All I can say is, it will take some major motivation from my hubby to not put my sweats on when I get home:)Especially since I have a super yummy dinner planned tonight (soba noodles with grilled flank steak). I should also mention how the strangest people come out of the woodwork on days like this! Not only was I swamped at work, but I dealt with some real crazies today!

Today wasn't all negative though. Chris actually took the day off and got to watch the Giants opener! Honestly, I was a bit jealous when he was still in bed and I was leaving for work this morning, but it really was much deserved. I am so blessed with a husband who I can be proud of! I know that he has always and will always do everything in his power to suppport us and that is such a wonderful feeling. Thank you for your hard work, my Love! I hope you enjoyed your day off!

On Weekends...

Weekends truly are the necessary boost to get you through another week. While they are all marked with varying themes, each holds a possibility of rest and rejuvination.

This weekend was filled with some of my favorite components:) After an early run Saturday morning, my Mom and I were off for a half-day of coffee, shopping and catching up! Can it get better than that? After lunch at Pita Pit (mmm...) I met up with my Hunny.

We got a call from Emily's Mom earlier in the week asking if we would like to help with the wedding invites because Em and Mark were flying in from Chicago for the weekend! So the rest of the day was spent doing just that. We had so much fun and I was so happy to spend the afternoon catching up on wedding details with her. I must give kuddos to the guys because they were pros at the invites. In fact, they may have contributed more than we did! What can I say, we were busy chatting, though we did make a sandwich run for them:)

Sunday morning was brutal for us, as we got home late and lost an hour of sleep thanks to daylight savings! This is, in my opinion, the one and only negative thing about this season. Although I was pretty pleased when the sun was still shining in my kitchen at 7pm:)

Cleaning and laundry (7 loads to be exact!) took up most of the afternoon, but I am always relieved to have a few hours to catch up on these things. As a reward, we got frozen yogurt with Brad and Laura after dinner:)

I am now ready to begin a new week with a clean house and renewed energy!

I am trying to spread my enthusiasm at work today, so I brought some homemade apple spice muffins:) So far, it's working!

Happy Monday!
