What's in a Name?

My goodness, ever since we revealed Baby Girl's gender, the next must-know for everyone suddenly became what we are going to name her.

Well, the good news is, we have a name!!

The bad news is, we are keeping it top secret until she's born...

That's just mean, isn't it? So sorry to burst that bubble, but if you aren't among the friends and family who are already asking and are itching to know, then allow me a moment to give a brief explanation as to why we have decided not to share. Oh, and it's not just because we love the anticipation...although we do get a kick out of keeping these sort of secrets :) You see, we actually agreed to do it this way a looong time ago. Like, when we were dating and first talking about these things, long ago.

For starters, choosing a name is, in our opinion, a huge responsibility. And as such, a very personal decision. But for some reason, people seem to think it's okay to give their unsolicited advice-especially about pregnancy, babies, raising children, etc.-without regard to others feelings. And truthfully, it can really hurt! Because of this, we think it's best to keep her name to ourselves to avoid the comments like, "Oh I knew an awful ___ . You don't want to name her that!" or "Well, I really like ___ better." So to avoid the unnecessary wrath of this pregnant woman, no one will know until meeting her. Because honestly, it's much harder to look at a precious bundle and claim not to like their name.

Secondly, even though we are pretty set on her name, we want to have the freedom to change our minds. To live with it for a while and make sure it's just right. Plus, there's something to be said about seeing her for the first time and just knowing the name fits her.

And finally, as we have already revealed the gender, it seems that her name is the one last element of surprise! Trust me, we cannot wait to let the cat out of the bag!!

So, my apologies to all the lovely friends and family who are dying to get things monogrammed, but it's just gonna have to wait until November:)

i think those are all really good reasons to keep it a secret - plus who doesn't love surprises. :)
